About The Role

This is a business development role, with a distinct emphasis on the NHS and Public Health sector. Success will be measured by having identified and realised opportunities for TPX to create meaningful impact in the health sector; substantially growing our footprint, profile and credibility, particularly with NHS Trust leadership bodies and key decision-makers.

You’ll bring an existing enviable network of contacts in the NHS who understand the role and potential impact of digital transformation. Ideally, you'll have direct experience selling and/or delivering digital, design and tech consultancy propositions into the NHS, demonstrating a track record of leading teams that have successfully met and exceeded client expectations. As a result, you’ll understand the challenges being faced by our colleagues in health and acute care settings specifically; and you’ll take an empathetic and entrepreneurial approach to translating those needs for colleagues across our internal teams and calibrating appropriate TPX-shaped solutions in response. Those solutions will be closely linked to an ever-evolving range of propositions, meaning this isn’t a ‘pure sales’ role, it’s a problem-solving role, where you’ll rely on existing health sector knowledge and credentials to influence NHS and TPX colleagues and creatively develop opportunities for digital transformation; and improved clinical and patient outcomes.

You'll have exceptional client management and relationship skills, particularly within NHS Trust leadership bodies and key decision-makers. Identifying and successfully progressing new business opportunities (through organic growth, reputation building, and on-upsell) within the NHS will be a vital part of this role. You'll have direct experience selling consultancy services into the NHS, demonstrating a track record of delivering successful projects and exceeding client expectations.

Responsibilities

Growth

  • You’ll hold specific revenue generation targets that contribute to the successful delivery of the health division.

    • These will be aligned to the health sector strategy and the wider business plan, measured and reviewed at least quarterly. As an indication, we expect this role to generate £3-5m of new revenue delivered in year. That may mean the total value of the work secured, if the contract duration is over 1-2 years, may be £6-10m.

    • As such, you’ll make a significant, tangible contribution to the growth expectations for Client Services, in line with the wider business plan

  • You’ll support effective mobilisation and workforce planning; by proactively communicating the future pipeline of work being generated and work with capability and resourcing leads across the business to feed into their longer term workforce development plans, and ensure they can make rapid and planful resourcing decisions for new/upcoming client engagagements.

  • You’ll take a lead role in progressing and overseeing opportunities through to successful completion and outcome, maintaining a sector leading win/conversion rate

  • You’ll work closely with colleagues across Client : routinely seeking opportunities to extend our work with clients/partners, being proactive around following up conversations and putting together proposals to keep those conversations warm.

  • You will frequently lead pitches, including mid to large-sized (£1-10m)  and priority deals owning narrative thread, determining winning thresholds.

  • You’ll be actively involved in market shaping, market competition and proposition shaping, listening, learning from and influencing clients to shape new market opportunities or being ahead of market changes.

  • You’ll prepare commercials and sign off if the proposal falls within agreed criteria and at delegated authority level.

  • You’ll enable real-time reporting and business intelligence through a ruthless commitment to record-keeping and data directly and through your teams/line reports. You’ll produce regular and ad-hoc reports which show the value of work in the pipeline and progress against our goals and proactively identify opportunities for improvement - be that around future pipeline; resourcing of teams to close capacity gaps, or informing workforce development/partnership plans

  • You’ll advocate for new opportunities through the qualification process to achieve our targets, to secure investment of time from colleagues in the bid team and capability areas

  • You’ll provide knowledge and insight needed to inform how we win new work by staying abreast of emerging policy and local trends in delivery, leveraging your networks to provide a thorough and holistic understanding of the sector.

  • You’ll be responsible for the growth targets and enabling the successful delivery of project work and client outcomes across your accounts and contribute to the broader success of both your sector team and the growth team overall.

  • You’ll take the lead on the proposition and market development around emergent opportunities outside existing portfolios (essentially owning/incubating a ‘mini portfolio’ and will build an investment case/development strategy). This will be a critical part of the progression towards a future Managing Partner role, where appropriate to the individual and size of the opportunity.

Learning

  • Work closely with Client Services and delivery teams to understand what we are learning from our delivery about the broader challenges organisations are faced with and identify opportunities for us to form more profound and more lasting partnerships

  • You’ll interpret what we learn from our delivery and business development activities and translate these into clear, high impact propositions that set out the problem space for a sector and how we can help to address them, where we need to recruit new skills or make new acquisitions into the company.

Account / project leadership

You’ll bring senior strategic oversight to grow our accounts and win new work; responsible for the strength and vibrancy of realistic opportunities in our pipeline, which provide consulting and TPX leadership with confidence about our progress towards your growth and delivery plans

You’ll provide senior, strategic oversight of key accounts, working across Client Services and the Consulting division.

Role as a leader

  • Alongside the Managing Partner, you’ll provide leadership across all sector growth activities, e.g. marketing, networking, events, bidding, pitches, strategic account management, thought leadership, and campaigns

  • You’ll provide leadership across all sector growth activities, e.g. marketing, networking, events, bidding, pitches, strategic account management, thought leadership, campaigns

  • You’ll play a senior leadership role around the Client Services team, be that through line reporting structures, or other approaches such as coaching/mentoring etc., to ensure colleagues can deliver work creatively, work with integrity, create the conditions in which project teams thrive, and deliver on the commercial expectations of the work.

Clients

  • You’ll have significant relevant and pre-existing networks in our target/current delivery spaces, which you’ll use to generate leads with demonstrable impact

  • You’ll hold direct relationships with those owning our work, but also their peers and superiors. It is often a point of escalation. Those relationships will be professionally intimate: i..e. You’ll be sufficiently well trusted to have offline conversations which contribute to our judgement / decision making

  • You’ll build a strong sense of credibility and high levels of trust with clients, and give confidence to TPXimpact staff and associates about the work we deliver and how we deliver it.

External profile

  • You’ll advocate for TPX, our value proposition and capabilities: representing TPXimpact and our work externally through thought-leadership, blog posts, hosting and speaking at events. You’ll champion our internal and external work, ensuring our value proposition and offer are distilled and understood by clients and collaborators.

  • You’ll work with the marketing, comms and events teams to develop thought leadership and targeted campaigns regularly.

About You

Essential Experience

 The ideal candidate will have:

  • A track record of business development and realising new commercial opportunities. The key success measure will be increased footprint and perceived value in the NHS/health space, and revenue generation is central to that.

  • Deep understanding of the policy areas, challenges, and funding landscape specific to the NHS and Public Health sector.

  • Proven experience engaging with NHS stakeholders at multiple levels, from strategic leadership to operational teams.

You’ll be comfortable positioning our full-service offering that spans technology, product, digital transformation, design, delivery, digital experience and automation for Health. You’ll build a solid personal network with colleagues across TPX to ensure you understand that offer; work with capability leads and other divisions to inform and influence capability area/divisional strategies to align to market/client needs.
