About The Role

We're looking for smart, motivated, thoughtful Frontend Developers to help develop our cloud-based data-publishing/analytics product and consulting business.

You will work with our clients and specialist teams to consult and deliver mission-critical, deep technical solutions across the enterprise. You will adopt and shape our high-quality engineering practices, writing clean, testable code, and engage with agile practices to deliver business value through technology.

By joining us, you would help shape and create the development practices that you want to work with. You would work alongside people who share an enthusiasm for technology, for an organisation that values technical quality at every layer, and one that will take an active role in training and improving your skill set.

You can read more about working at Swirrl in this blog post

You will work as part of a small engineering team. Collaborating closely with our experienced team of designers, front and back-end engineers to develop and improve our data-publishing product, as well as developing bespoke applications and solutions for our customers.

We recognise that good ideas can come from anyone in the team, regardless of experience and that different ways of working suit different people. As well as the technical work, there are potential opportunities for interacting directly with customers, leading a team, or helping shape the direction of our products and projects.

About You

We're looking for candidates with some experience working on government projects, data-intensive applications or data-visualisation, preferably with some experience of React.  And while not required, any additional experience working with Graph Data or Functional programming would give candidates an advantage.

We use various technologies including those listed below. You probably already know some of them, but others you'll be keen to learn.

  • Version control (Git) and Continuous Integration (CI)

  • Modern and accessible HTML and CSS

  • JavaScript (particularly React and/or ClojureScript)

  • Data visualisation with (for example) D3, Mapbox or charting libraries.
